member use of Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards during club hours

Kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPs) are available for members to take out on the water. For your safety, we all need to observe the following rules:

  1. You must be 16+ in order to take out a sailboat, kayak, or SUP (watercraft) alone.

  2. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by adults in a one-to-one ratio of adults to children under 12.

LBC Staff may ask for a driver’s license to verify age.

  3. Watercraft should only be checked out 30 minutes at a time.

  4. Watercraft should not be taken deeper into the lake than the “No Watercraft” buoys.

  5. Watercraft should not go North past Windermere or South past Webster’s Point.

  6. Lifejackets should be worn at all times while using LBC watercraft.

  7. Damaged or lost equipment will result in a fine equal to the cost of repair or replacement.

  8. Any person using an LBC watercraft (kayak, SUP, sailboat) must fill out our digital waiver, or have one filled out on their behalf, since…

  9. … any person under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian sign the waiver for them. Four family members = four separately filled-out waivers.

  10. Your guests are more than welcome to use the watercraft but must sign their own waivers and those of their adolescent dependents.

  11. As is true with all things beach club, your guests are your responsibility. Please educate them about LBC’s rules and policies before turning them loose!

  12. You CAN’T sign a waiver for your guests who are under 18 years old since you are not their legal guardian.

  13. You CAN send this waiver to their parents/guardians (or anyone!) ahead of time so they can use the goods while visiting. This is a great time saver!

Examples of acceptable use:

  • One adult to be on a kayak or SUP and have their kid under 16 be on their own kayak or SUP.

  • Two adults to be on two single kayaks or SUPs and two kids under 16 on a double kayak.

  • One adult to be on a single kayak or SUP with a kid under 16 on the same single kayak or SUP.

Examples of unacceptable use:

  • One adult to be on a kayak or SUP and have two kids under 16 on kayaks or SUPs.

  • One adult to be on a kayak or SUP with a kid under 16 on the same kayak or SUP and then another kid under 16 on a different kayak or SUP.

  • One adult on a kayak or SUP and one 16-17 year old on a kayak or SUP and two kids under 12 on kayaks or SUPs.

All other rules of the kayak float still apply. See above. Please contact us if there are any questions.

Private stalls are available for member use at an annual cost. Please contact the LBC Business office for more information and pricing.
