2021 Frequently Asked Questions

What are some quick highlights and changes to the 2021 season?

  • Early opening pilot of LBC with reduced hours: No guests during Early opening

    • Thursdays to Fridays (3 pm to 9:30 pm)

    • Saturdays to Sundays (noon to 9:30 pm)

  • New Gas Fire Pits in the South area (no reservations required at this time)

How much are membership dues this year?

  • New member Initiation fees = $4,000

  • Household Dues = $595

  • Senior Dues = $185

  • Renters Dues = $850

What is our current membership size?

  • Going into the 2021 summer, we had 521 Households, 97 Senior Members, and 20 Renter households.

  • We did not raise the dues this year because we hope that a Membership Drive will increase the size of our total household membership and we do not want to make the annual fees prohibitive, thus impacting total household membership.

What’s our capacity since we’re still in COVID?   During COVID Phase 3, we still have to manage our capacity which we determined to be a max of 400 at any given time at the club.

Friday: 9:30 am to 4 pm

Friday 4 pm onwards: Members only

Saturday - Sunday: Members only

Why are you limiting when guests can come?

We are limiting the times’ Guests are invited based on COVID capacity policies that we must manage.  We believe having Guests during the week when the club volume is not as high will allow us to return to our pre-COVID tradition of having Guests join us. Friday night, Saturday, and Sundays are our high volume usage and we do not want members to be turned away due to COVID capacity issues while members are inside.  We will monitor this and make adjustments throughout the Summer.

What are the normal non-COVID guest policies?

  1. All guests must sign in at the gatehouse.

  2. All guests must be accompanied by their host members for the entire time they are at the club.

    1. Special arrangements may be made for unaccompanied, out-of-town house guests by contacting the business manager by email.

  3. Guest children under age 12 must pass the club-approved swim test to swim at the club.

  4. The maximum number of accompanied guests per household membership is 8 at one time. A household must be represented by at least one adult member.

    1. A junior member (10 years of age or older) present at the LBC is allowed to accompany a maximum of 2 guests during each visit.  Guests under 12 must pass a swim test.

Prior to COVID, there were certain times during the summer when the number of guests in a single day inhibited members from enjoying the club.

We believe that $5 / guest will deter overuse of the Guest Policy.  The charge will also help defray the additional operating costs that increased usage incurs.

We hope that by allowing guests in lower volume times (e.g. weekdays)  we’ll juggle managing capacity with not having members turn away.

What are the cleaning practices going to be this summer?

A year + into this pandemic we are all smarter and now know that COVID is airborne and not transferred through inanimate objects. We will return to our normal cleaning practices of hourly bathroom cleanings and grounds cleaning.  We will not be cleaning handrails, doorknobs, and other regularly touched surfaces.

COVID Policies for Summer 2021:

  • All equipment back in use from diving boards, chairs, BBQs, showers, sand toys….

  • Masks should be worn in all shared public spaces like bathrooms and when talking to guards but not on the lawn or when swimming

  • Capacity is 400 at any given time

The guidelines for COVID are posted on the website:  https://laurelhurstbeachclub.com/covid19-rules-for-2021

CAPACITY:

We have to manage capacity however in Phase 3 it’s a larger number:  400 and the number will be updated to the website as it was last year.

What is our Guest Policy this summer?

$5/Guest Over 5 years old

Members will be charged for their guests starting June 12, 20221 at the start of regular or full opening.

There is a charge of $5/day per guest over 5 years old.  Exceptions to the $5/day per guest charge for grandchildren of Senior members, Nannies, and long-term houseguests with advance notice to Business@LaurelhurstBeachClub.com.

Increasing guest usage incurs operating costs and with COVID we both want to be open to guests, and limit the number that join us, so that the LBC is available to all members when it’s open (Capacity issues).

What are the changes to the Guest Policies for 2021?

  • $5 per guest fee per day if your guests are older than 5 years of age

  • Guests are welcome during the weekdays only until Fridays at 4 pm

  • No Guests are allowed on the weekends (Fri 4 pm to Sun).
